As an Outfit/Layouts Detail Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing 2D manufacturing drawings incorporating some model fixes, working closely with cross-functional teams on a range of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
You will deliver accurate technical drawings and specifications, and help identify and resolve any design issues that may arise.
What do you need from me?
You're an experienced Designer, comfortable using FORAN, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. You can use analytical and problem-solving skills in challenging situations. You can work autonomously or within a larger team, flexibly adapting to changing project requirements.
Responsibilities
* Creation of Drawings: Producing detailed 2D drawings to meet required standards.
* Change of Models: Identifying errors within a 3D CAD model and carrying out necessary fixes to meet required standards.
* Design Deliverables: Ensuring all design deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
* Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
* Project Support: Contributing to and supporting the entire project and product design cycle, from concept to construction and installation.
* Technical Support: Providing technical support during the construction and installation phases.
* Perform self-verification of work.
* Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
* Be aware of and ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented.
* Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.
* Change embodiment.
Qualifications
* The candidate is required to hold an NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification/experience in Outfitting/Structural discipline subject.
* Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.
Essential skills
* Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.
* Proficient in the use of one or more parametric/spec driven CAD systems in both 3D & 2D environments.
* FORAN.
* Windchill.
Desired skills
* Preferable T26 Experience.
Experience
* Experience in Design processes and procedures specifically within detail design (stage 2 modelling/stage 3 outputs) working on Naval or Commercial Marine projects (preferably naval shipbuilding projects or alternatively new build or major conversion packages) or similar.
