Job Title: Special Vehicle Supply Chain Management Senior Engineer
About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity to join our prestige client within the automotive market to develop special vehicles based on the client's commercial vehicle product line-up. The position relies on a high level of collaboration with the special vehicle development team and the end user to develop proposals that support their individual use case requirements, delivering them with industry-leading uptime and improving customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Translate the 'voice of the customer' (internal and external) into a list of clear concise requirements and deliverables.
2. Lead the Team of Four (To4) meetings with Finance, Cost Estimating, Commodity, and Program Purchasing to provide the engineering perspective for supplier selection.
3. Prepare the Engineering Statement of Work (ESOW), specifications, the Engineering concept, and Attachment 3 as inputs for the RFQ pack.
4. Provide input to the ASAP tool and support cost negotiations between Purchasing and Suppliers.
5. Manage the development and implementation of vehicle parts sourcing using both corporate and ad-hoc systems.
6. Perform due diligence for supplier sourcing, ensuring all suppliers support company standards.
7. Set up supply chain routes, working with internal logistics to gain efficiency.
8. Manage internal stock, ensuring counts are up to date to protect the build program.
9. Monitor and develop roadmaps for supply chain improvements and coach the team through changes.
10. Oversee the Manage the Change process, ensuring zero obsolescence through change.
11. Liaise with Vehicle Plant-based MP&L and purchasing functions to ensure base vehicle changes are considered within the Special Vehicle Manage the Change process.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
2. Proficiency in Corporate PC-based MP&L programs and software packages.
3. High level of presentation and communication skills for senior executives.
4. Experience in special vehicle/prototype parts sourcing, procurement, and delivery.
5. Engineering Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
Skills Preferred:
1. Knowledge of vehicle Electrical Systems and Components.
2. Experience using FEDE, WERS, or similar systems.
3. Master's degree in a relevant subject.
