We are looking for two enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Senior Healthcare Support Workers with the Care Certificate and previous experience in the NHS to join our progressive and dedicated Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Unit at St. Peter's hospital.
The Unit consists of an admission and recovery area, Operating laboratories and Pre-assessment rooms which are used for clinics and a range of cardiac procedures, including Angiography/Angioplasty, Cardiac Pacing, Cardioversions, Electrophysiology studies and Cardiac Ablations.
As a team member, you will have a range of learning opportunities available with our in-house training. Starting with a rotation throughout different areas of the department, where you will develop your competencies within each area.
Informal visits to the unit are welcome so you can come and meet us and see the way that our care is delivered.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide a safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers. You will be expected to function clinically within the ward from admission through to discharge, assisting the Circulator in the Catheter laboratories during procedures, assisting in Pre-assessment clinics and with unit restocking and replenishing.
You will carry out tasks as delegated by the Co-ordinator (Nurse in Charge) and guided by the Cardiac Unit Competency Pack.

Working as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker in the Cardiac Unit, you will be carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care, whilst maintaining privacy and dignity of each patient. This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, and in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse/Midwife or Nursing Associate, incorporating:
1. Admitting patients and preparing patients for procedures.
2. Discharging patients once competent.
3. Moving & Handling of patients to support independence.
4. Infection Prevention and Control.
5. Safeguarding of adults and children.
6. Reporting Incidents.
7. Taking and recording vital signs or other parameters such as height/weight.
8. Cannulating or blood taking, removing cannulas, taking specimens/samples of any kind, simple dressings.
9. ECGs or setting up cardiac monitoring.
10. TR band management.
11. Recovery of patients post conscious sedation.
12. Hydration and Nutrition assistance.
13. Assistance with comfort and hygiene care.
