We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our newly transformed Telford & Wrekin Community Mental Health Service which has been aligned to work with our local group of Primary Care Networks
Telford & Wrekin Community Mental Health service provide assessment & evidence based interventions for people who are presenting with complex mental health difficulties that are significantly impacting on their daily life alongside our partner organisations
This is a permanent full-time (10PAs) post in General Adult Psychiatry. The emphasis is to provide timely & comprehensive assessment, interventions & treatment to service users & their families/carers, whilst working within a multi-disciplinary team format
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with the interest in providing strong medical leadership as the post involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure, which shares responsibility for ensuring that the care delivered by the service is safe and of a high quality standard

Main duties of the job
This post enables dedicated Consultant input into one of our five Integrated Community Mental Services (CMHS) that are based across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. You will be expected to provide community care & treatment, with the facility for assessment of referred service users, flexible review of complex service users & timely discharge in liaison with GPs. Service Users will present with a range of mental health difficulties and need.
The role is aligned to the Telford & Wrekin CMHS, which comprising of four PCNs. This service in total has 4.2 Adult Consultants and 2 Older Adult Consultants. The post is aligned to cover 1 of the PCNs (Wrekin PCN)
The role involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure, & providing support & supervision as required to Advanced Nurse Practitioner & Non-Medical Prescribers. The Post Holder will have responsibility to supervise a trainee attached to the team, although as with any training post this is subject to trainee availability. Opportunities are also available in the Trust to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education for Junior Doctors and Medical Students from Keele Medical School.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* oMedical Degree
* oMRC Psych or equivalent
* oEligible for inclusion on the specialist register (senior trainees must be within six months of CCT at the point of interview)
* oSpecialty Training
Clinical and Professional Competence
* oExperience in General Adult Psychiatry at ST 4 -6 level or equivalent senior level in a variety of settings including in-patient and community.
* oAwareness of current guidelines for the assessment and treatment of mental disorder
* oEligibility for Approved Clinician status and knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act.
