8A Clinical / Counselling Practitioner Psychologist (NHS AfC: Band 8a) - Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist - Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust – Frimley, Surrey
Come and join Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP) to be part of an exciting new Critical Care Rehabilitation and Follow-Up Service (CCRFS) covering the ICU services at Frimley Health Foundation Trust (FHFT). The post is a Band 8A 0.5 WTE role, based at our Frimley Park Hospital site. The post is professionally managed through the Clinical Health Psychology Department in SABP, and you will come under the experienced management and leadership of the 8B ITU Lead Clinical Psychologist based at our Wexham Park Hospital site. You will have exciting opportunities to work within inpatient and outpatient settings, with patients and staff, embedding trauma-informed, evidence-based care.
You will be joining a friendly and dynamic MDT which includes nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy & Intensivists. Psychology is a highly valued resource in ICU and the team are keen to welcome and work with psychology to shape the service and care pathways.
The Critical Care Rehabilitation and Follow-up Service (CCRFS) supports people who have been through the challenges of being in intensive care and experienced critical illness. As part of the team, you will follow patients along their recovery trajectory from critical care to the community, and work with our partner services. You will be instrumental in formulating, and working with, the complexity of psychological recovery following critical illness, including Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) and related psychological trauma and cognitive difficulties.
Early intervention is a priority in this post and you will have an opportunity to work with critical care patients and staff to mitigate the psychological and cognitive sequelae of critical illness.
There is a rewarding mix of inpatient and outpatient work, with a focus on providing a high-quality MDT approach to complex decision making, and a strong focus on embedding trauma-informed care across the pathways of care.
You will also provide evidence-based outpatient treatment for ICU related PTSD and work within our follow-up clinic in sign-posting patients to appropriate mental health partner services.
You will hold a key role in consultation regarding staff support, training, audit and evaluation of all aspects of the service.
The post would suit someone who is looking to develop their leadership skills working alongside the 8B lead in supporting ongoing service developments.
