Our client are a highly respected, 5 star family-run housebuilder renowned for crafting exceptional, bespoke residential properties in desirable locations spanning seventy years.
They are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven Quantity Surveyor to join their small commercial team of five, in Buckinghamshire. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of prestigious, high-quality homes within a collaborative and rewarding environment.
With four bespoke projects live from Buckinghamshire to Berkshire to Hampshire and a solid pipeline of future schemes, this will be an office based position, visiting developments on a regular basis and will serve as a crucial link between site teams, subcontractors, technical teams, land teams, sales teams and senior management.
Ideal Key Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will be responsible for attending site visits and subcontractor meetings, as well as actively sourcing new subcontractors to ensure that build programs are met.
A meticulous approach and attention to detail is essential, as the role involves creating and updating assessments, reports, and tender schedules to ensure transparency of all build costs at every stage.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills are a must for managing relationships throughout the build process. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge in the new homes industry and a desire to contribute to the success of their well-established, privately- owned development company.
Liaising with site agents to address problems or shortfalls on site.
Preparing schedules and documents for tender submission to subcontractors.
Analysing tenders and recommending preferred subcontractors, negotiating with subcontractors and to place orders with them that are fully inclusive as far as possible and making payments to subcontractors in accordance with the agreed order and company procedures on payments made to them, also Preparation and agreement of final accounts with subcontractors.
Preparing interim valuations and production of cost to complete exercises for projects in accordance with agreed procedures, monitoring costs and reporting against the development budget.
Additional requirements:
Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of accounting system.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team and prioritise tasks, good organisational and problem-solving abilities are also very useful for this role, as is the ability to work under own initiative and to be self-motivated.
