Job Overview
The Emergency Assessment Unit at Grantham is looking for a new ward manager. We are looking for a dynamic individual with great ideas and a passion for providing high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will have a drive to develop and improve services.
EAU is a 24/28 bedded assessment area caring for medical patients. We admit patients from SDEC, UTC, GPs and clinics.
Main Duties of the Job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to take on the role of the ward manager. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, with the support of the band 6 team.
You must be able to communicate at all levels, be a strong patient advocate and have a good understanding of the principles of general medical nursing.
EAU has an established MDT, and we pride ourselves in the fact that we work as a team to support our patients' journey through the hospital.
We work closely with the UTC and SDEC at Grantham.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Level 1
* Teaching and assessing course, ENB 998 or equivalent
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Degree
* Evidence of current experience at Sister Band 6 or above in Acute Medical Services.
* Evidence of teaching in clinical practice
* Can implement and manage change
* Proven leadership and managerial capabilities
* Experience of involvement in clinical audit
* Experience of managing resources effectively
* Previous experience in setting or developing a role/service.
* Ability to take a leading role in initiating action.
* Effective leadership and management skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to organise and prioritise
* Counselling skills
* The ability to manage change
* Demonstrate ability to influence and to motivate the clinical practice of others
