We are looking for a passionate and driven Youth Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our team. This role involves working with young athletes on a one-to-one basis, within schools, sports clubs, and as part of our wider business growth strategy. You will play a key role in developing youth athletic performance, educating them in how to train efficiently, and fostering a positive training environment that supports both physical and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. One-to-One coaching with athletes.
2. Design and implement individualised S&C programmes tailored to the needs of youth athletes.
3. Assess each athlete's performance and progression with performance testing, alongside CPD reflection tasks with fellow coaches.
4. Provide technical coaching on correct lifting techniques & safety, speed development, agility, and injury prevention.
5. Build strong relationships with athletes & their parents, offering mentorship and support beyond being just an S&C coach to them.
6. Deliver planned & structured S&C sessions for school sports scholars/teams and selected individuals.
7. Educate students on the fundamentals of youth S&C.
8. Work alongside school coaches and PE staff to ensure the best and most efficient manner for each child to improve.
9. Develop age-appropriate training methods that align with long-term athletic development principles.
10. Ensure safe and effective training environments in school settings.
11. Actively promote the benefits of youth S&C and how it can benefit new athletes, schools, and sports teams.
12. Assist in marketing efforts, social media content, and community outreach to increase brand awareness.
13. Participate in camps, workshops, and events to engage with athletes, parents, and coaches.
14. Develop relationships with local clubs, teams, and organisations to establish partnerships.
15. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to continually improve our coaching methods.
16. Enhancing Skills, knowledge, effectiveness and value added through regular meetings and self-evaluation.
17. Professional Networking: Actively engaging with other professionals in the field to exchange ideas and best practices.
18. Adaptation and Flexibility: Being open to new approaches and consistently adapting coaching methods to better serve the athletes.
19. Session Debriefs: Conducting post-session debriefs to evaluate what went well, what could be improved, and how the athletes responded.
20. Reflection Journals: Keeping a detailed journal of reflections on each training session, documenting challenges, successes, and areas for improvement.
21. Peer Review Meetings: Regularly review and discuss sessions with peers to gain constructive feedback and alternative approaches.
Qualifications & Skills
1. BSc Hons or MSc degree in Strength & Conditioning.
2. Accredited certification (NSCA-CSCS, UKSCA, NASM-PES, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
3. Experience working with youth athletes in a S&C setting.
4. Strong knowledge of age-appropriate training principles, injury prevention, and recovery methods.
5. Excellent communication and motivational skills to engage with young athletes & parents.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to drive business growth.
7. Punctual, organised, and driven to improve daily.
8. Passion for helping young athletes develop both physically and mentally.
