As the team leader for Universal Credit and Benefit Fraud Marketing, you will lead and coach professional expert teams focused on paid-for and no/low-cost campaign strategy, planning and delivery. You will be responsible for DWP’s Universal Credit and Fraud marketing campaigns, but your focus may change in line with delivery priorities.
This role will also require regular travel to London.
You will:
* Play an active role in the leadership of the DWP Marketing Team, supporting the Head of Marketing and other team leaders to create a positive team culture and deliver our shared strategic objectives.
* Drive creativity, effectiveness, value for money and innovation in our marketing, delivering high quality campaigns that achieve measurable customer impact.
* Act as an expert voice to senior stakeholders within DWP and across government.
* Drive campaign integration, working with colleagues across the Marketing Team and wider Directorate to ensure paid-for campaigns are fully integrated with low/no cost internal and external channels.
* Encourage creative approaches to paid-for, owned and earned channel strategies, using and learning from best practice in insight, driving up skills and understanding across the Marketing Team, including driving the adoption and use of the Cut Through Scale within DWP and with our agency partners.
* Demonstrate deep understanding of political and social context, supporting teams to spot and address risk and making sure that marketing plans reflect DWP and wider government priorities.
* Actively manage team resource, being responsive to departmental and ministerial priorities.
* Manage and coach your team to support motivation and capability across the team, ensuring best use of specialist skills and experience, learning from best practice and utilising DWP & GCS training and development as appropriate.
* Role model continuous improvement with advertising and marketing industry best practice.
* Create a positive, creative, and supportive environment, embedding a culture of positive challenge and team support across all grades.
* Develop and lead your team to implement and deliver innovative campaigns which are based on insight, targeted to key audiences and are regularly reviewed and evaluated. Ensure your team are delivering campaigns in line with professional practice and the Government Communications Service (GCS) Functional Standards .
* Develop collaborative strategic working relationships with colleagues across the Marketing and Digital functions as well as the wider Communications Directorate: Press, External Affairs, Internal Comms, Strategic Communications and the Director’s Office.
* Provide professional communications advice and sustain a close working relationship with Ministerial Private Offices to ensure that priorities and departmental objectives are understood and delivered.
* Work closely with DWP’s Directors General and key officials across DWP to inform and support their delivery and policy objectives with expert communications advice.
* Build and maintain a network of colleagues and contacts from within DWP, across government, the GCS and in the private sector to achieve progress on priorities, objectives, share best practice and keep updated with industry marketing and advertising trends.
* Actively build positive strategic relationships with delivery agencies to ensure best service and value for money for DWP campaigns.
