What will I be doing?
As the third legal hire, you will play a key role in shaping the legal function as the company scales. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor, navigating complex legal and regulatory challenges while enabling strategic growth.
This high-impact, senior role requires a commercially minded, proactive lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited about scaling a legal function within a rapidly growing business. You will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams—including Product, Finance, Operations, HR, and Compliance—providing expert legal counsel across multiple international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate & Commercial Legal Work
* Commercial Contracts – Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, licensing, supplier, partnership, and customer agreements to support business objectives.
* M&A & Fundraising – Lead and support mergers, acquisitions, financing rounds, and investor negotiations.
* Risk & Compliance – Collaborate with the Risk & Compliance team to strengthen risk management frameworks.
* Regulatory & Governance – Ensure compliance with corporate governance and legal frameworks for high-growth technology businesses.
Strategic Legal & Business Support
* International Expansion – Advise on legal matters related to scaling operations across global markets.
* Stakeholder Engagement – Provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership and key business teams.
* Scaling the Legal Function – Develop and refine legal processes, policies, and governance structures to support long-term growth.
Specialist Areas
* IP, Data Protection & Employment Law – Counsel on intellectual property, GDPR compliance, and employment law matters.
* Legal Operations & Training – Build scalable legal frameworks and deliver training to employees and management.
* Corporate & Special Projects – Support governance, company secretarial duties, and strategic initiatives.
About You:
Ideal experience and skills:
* Qualified legal professional (UK or comparable jurisdiction) with 5+ years PQE in a high-growth tech or scale-up environment.
* Strong M&A and fundraising expertise, particularly in fast-scaling businesses.
* Experience working with Risk & Compliance teams to integrate risk management strategies.
* Strategic thinker who balances risk management with commercial goals.
* Skilled at working with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
* Adaptable, solutions-focused, and energised by working in a dynamic environment.
