Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced NEPTS Transport Manager to join the busy 24/7 Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) at Guy's and St Thomas'.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high quality resource and ensuring the smooth running of the Transport Department. Their primary role is to ensure the deployment of the required operational resource across the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and mandatory legal regulations and Trust Policies.
NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport due to their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need.
Main duties of the job
* Ensuring that the GSTT patient transport fleet and equipment is fully maintained and complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
* Ensuring that all Ambulance Care Assistants (ACAs) and Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) are compliant with all training obligations and Trust policies.
* To manage the community and GSTT patient transport providing a high quality service ensuring that KPI standards are met and good relationships are established with the service users.
* To manage the accumulation and analysis of all accidents and incidents occurring to Trust vehicles, including the resulting incidents to colleagues, patients or third parties and managing action or claims in response to these accidents or incidents.
* Take full responsibility for the internal ambulance fleet to ensure that the Trust always has in place a robust and efficient service that is highly flexible and able to cope with changing demands.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to master’s level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
* Formal training in transport and logistics to evidence/ensure continuous professional development.
* HGV/PSV CPC holder.
Experience
* Evidence of significant previous experience of working in a leadership role delivering effective patient transport services across a large complex organisation.
* Proven experience of staff management including recruitment, retention, appraisal, absence management and disciplinary management.
* Proven experience of fleet and vehicle management – including legal requirements and industry standards.
* Strong budgetary knowledge and management.
* Demonstratable recent or current management experience within NEPTS at the same or similar level.
Skills
* Expert knowledge of NEPTS operations.
* Strong organisational skills to include planning, implementing and managing projects/initiatives with a high level of autonomy.
* Understanding and track record of successful change and project management.
* Effective people and project management skills.
