Brookfields School is looking to appoint a Designated Safeguarding and Attendance Lead to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be the key strategic lead for Safeguarding at the school. Reporting directly to the Head, you will implement whole school safeguarding polices procedures to promote the highest standards of safeguarding and pupil protection.
The successful candidate will be experienced in safeguarding and pupil welfare procedures gained from either an education/school environment or through social care. You will be familiar with and be able to lead on pupil strategy discussions and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority, social services and the police.
Working with the team of DSLs this role will lead, support and train all members of staff in relation to Safeguarding, attendance, pupil welfare and child protection matters.
Some safeguarding activities may be delegated to our deputy DSLs, although you will retain lead responsibility and will ensure that all work is completed to the highest standard.
This role will line manage the Senior Family Support Worker and Family Support Worker.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school.
* Ensure the schools systems for monitoring, referring, tracking and following up on safeguarding concerns are in place and rigorously implemented to the highest of standards.
* Create strong working relationships with staff, parents and other outside agencies to enable the best support for our pupils.
* Refer cases to the Channel programme where there is a radicalisation concern as required.
* Work with the Assistant Head (Pastoral) and the attendance team to monitor attendance and ensure safeguarding actions are implemented.
* Provide whole school training to ensure the school meets all statutory requirements regarding safeguarding ensuring compliance.
Key criteria:
· Experience in a Safeguarding role in education or social care.
· Level 3 qualification in Safeguarding Awareness.
· Excellent communication skills
· Full UK Driving Licence
· This role is open support staff, qualified teachers or social workers who have experience of Safeguarding and Child Protection with young people in education.
