Teaching Assistants – PMLD Support

Do you have experience working with children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support specialist provisions across South Leeds and surrounding areas.
The Role:
This opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals who can provide specialised care and educational support to pupils with complex needs. The role involves assisting students with severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments to ensure they receive high-quality education and care.
We offer flexibility in working arrangements, allowing you to choose between multiple school placements or a long-term role in a single setting. A minimum commitment of three days per week is required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Offering one-on-one and small group support to children with PMLD.
2. Assisting with personal care, mobility, and communication needs.
3. Creating engaging and accessible learning activities tailored to individual needs.
4. Supporting therapists, teachers, and families in implementing care and learning plans.
5. Using specialist equipment and assistive technology to aid mobility and communication.
6. Encouraging social interaction and confidence-building.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Prior experience working with students with PMLD or complex needs.
2. A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach.
3. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
4. A willingness to support personal care and medical needs.
Desirable Training (Not Essential):
1. Moving and Handling training.
2. PEG feeding or medical care experience.
3. Makaton or alternative communication methods.
4. Team Teach or behaviour management training.
Locations Covered:
We have roles available in South Leeds and surrounding areas, including Morley, Rothwell, and Middleton.
