We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Operative - Livestock Transport to join our team. This is a unique and rewarding role requiring expertise in livestock handling and transport, ensuring the highest standards of safety, animal welfare, and efficiency. About the Role You will be multi-skilled across various transport tasks, playing a vital role in collecting and transporting livestock safely, efficiently, and accurately to our abattoirs. This helps us ensure that our products are available to customers on time while maintaining the highest levels of animal welfare and compliance with legal regulations. Key Responsibilities: Safely collect and transport livestock from farms and markets to our abattoirs, ensuring compliance with welfare standards and legal guidelines. Assess and inspect equipment, such as trailers, to ensure roadworthiness and safety before and after use, reporting defects to the Transport Manager. Plan efficient routes to ensure timely delivery, minimizing fuel use and meeting expected turnaround times. Load, unload, and care for livestock in line with animal welfare standards, legal requirements, and company policies. Drive safely and responsibly to protect the business, livestock, and other road users, ensuring vehicle stability during transport. Complete all necessary documentation, including species paperwork, passports, and licenses. Work flexibly to meet business needs, including overnight/multi-night stays in the truck when required. Maintain high standards of teamwork, communication, and collaboration with colleagues and the management team. About You We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently. You will be comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and care. Essential Skills and Experience: A valid Class 1 LGV Licence and Driver CPC. City & Guilds Transport of Animals by Road qualification (for cattle, sheep, and pigs). Strong geographical knowledge and the ability to plan efficient routes. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience working in outdoor environments, such as farms or yards, with a variety of physical activities, including lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
