An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Legal Services Team at Swansea Bay Health Board as a Deputy Legal Services Manager.
We are seeking enthusiastic, driven, and patient-focused individuals who can manage a complex Claims and Inquest caseload.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
The primary purpose of the Deputy Legal Services Manager post is to support the Legal Services Manager in ensuring that the Health Board is fully compliant with the Civil Procedure Rules 1998, The National Health (Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements) (Wales) Regulations 2011, and The Coroners and Justice Act 2009, ensuring opportunities for learning are identified across the Health Board.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of a large, complex, and higher value claims caseload as well as an inquest case load on a day-to-day basis at Swansea Bay University Health Board. The post holder will also be responsible for managerial tasks and functions to support the management of such processes.
The post holder will be responsible for the line management of a small number of staff within the team.

Person Specification
Qualifications/Experience
* Law degree (or equivalent).
* Management qualification (ILM, NVQ etc.) or demonstrable experience of managing a team.
* Significant experience in concerns claims law or related subjects.
* Specialist knowledge of relevant procedures and guidelines including NHS Redress (Putting things Right), Civil Procedure Rules, and the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
* Specialist knowledge of clinical governance and risk management.
* Experience in an administrative or customer service-based environment.
* Experience of conflict resolution and dealing with difficult situations.
* Confidence in dealing with a number of parties including the public, family, and senior colleagues.
* Ability to deal with sensitive and sympathetic situations.
* Experience of writing concise and formal reports/memorandums.
* Ability to monitor and review performance against targets.
* Able to effectively maintain and manage a large and often demanding caseload.
Aptitude and Abilities
* Able to efficiently prioritise own workload and manage conflicting deadlines.
* Experience of using the RLDatix system.

£37,898 to £45,637 a year per annum pro rata.
