Senior Pharmacy Technician – Practice Supervisor/Dispensary Support
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic operational Team. The post holder must be keen to learn and develop with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role is embedded in the dispensary team by supporting the dispensary team with training and development needs. Therefore, a systematic and flexible approach to working is an essential requirement.
Duties/Areas of this post include:
1. Delivering induction for new starters
2. Delivering and maintaining competency-based training for all members of the team
3. Named Practice supervisor for trainees within the setting
4. Mentor for Trainee Pharmacy Assistants, Rotational Foundation Pharmacy Technicians and pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians
5. Management support within the dispensary setting
6. Develop links with other hospital staff, as appropriate for service needs
7. Quality Improvement or Project work
Applicants must hold a BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians /NVQ 3 or equivalent, be Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Applicants should also have previous experience of supervising and training this includes new starters, delivering Local inductions and developing current staff members.
Main duties of the job
To support the dispensary manager and senior pharmacy team with the day-to-day management of the dispensary, including organisation of workload and supervision of all staff in the dispensary.
To co-ordinate and deliver inductions and provide training to all new, rotational, and permanent staff. Keeps accurate up to date records of training you have provided and update training manuals on a regular basis.
Additional line manager responsibilities for junior staff members.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent. (This should include the MOP course and ACPT)
* ILM 2 or equivalent team
* Interview training for Panel member
* Quality Improvement training
* ILM 3 or equivalent team leadership /management qualification
Experience
* Post registration experience of working as a pharmacy technician or significant experience of working in an acute NHS hospital setting
* Experience of supervising and training less experienced pharmacy technicians, students, other staff; carrying out basic work-based assessments
* Experience of providing ward-based medicines management services
* Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent
* Participation in or contribution to audit work
* Understanding of Medicine management
* Experience of implementation of quality improvement projects
Knowledge
* Supporting others to gain an understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements
* Understanding of development opportunities available to Pharmacy technicians and support staff
* Knowledge of medicines management systems at ward level
* Good understanding of the management of High-Cost Drugs
* Able to demonstrate a good understanding of patient safety initiatives
* Understanding of medication issues and potential problems arising as patients move between the interface of primary and secondary care
* Understanding of the regulations relating to managing people
