This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic person to join North Somerset Council’s Children’s Centres and Family Hubs team to provide business support across all our sites. If you have previous experience working in busy community environments and providing welcoming and supportive initial contact for customers, we would like to meet you.
The Role
North Somerset Council is developing Family Hubs to provide seamless accessible support to families with children aged 0-19 (25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). You will be:
1. Dealing with all administrative tasks for the Children’s Centre and Family Hubs.
2. Working in an environment where children and families attend.
3. Working in partnership with parents and carers to offer an accessible and welcoming environment.
4. Working as part of the Family Wellbeing team, partner agencies, and community groups.
5. Supporting the quality of the Children’s Centres and Family Hubs.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or the ability to provide an alternative, suitable method of travel is needed for this role.
This position is based across North Somerset Children’s Centres/Family Hubs.
Work Style
At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.
This role falls into the category of Fixed Worker, which means you can expect to work in the following way:
1. Spends all their time in the office.
2. The office remains a shared space with cultural encouragement for clear desk policies.
About You
This role is to work with the Family Wellbeing Intervention Team Leader, and to support this work, we are looking for the following skills and knowledge:
1. Excellent communication and customer care skills.
2. A broad knowledge and understanding of administrative systems.
3. To be able to work independently to resolve problems and queries.
4. Previous office and finance experience.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working with Children, Young People, and their families and who possesses the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria:
1. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in literacy and numeracy.
2. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent practical work experience in technical skills relating to the service area.
3. Awareness and understanding of the service area.
4. Experience of working with computers and technology, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Understanding of the service area regulations and relevant legislation, to include information sharing, health and safety, confidentiality, data protection, and information governance.
