Clinical Engineering Technologist Band 5
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Clinical Engineering Technologist within the Clinical Engineering section of the Department of Medical Physics, Ninewells Hospital Dundee. Candidates should possess, as a minimum, an HNC/HND in Engineering, plus significant experience working in an equipment repair capacity. The post holder will be required to achieve the necessary standards to join the Register for Clinical Technologists.
Clinical Engineering provides a service throughout NHS Tayside and external customers serving the population of Dundee, Angus, Perth & Kinross, and Northeast Fife. This role will be predominantly based at Perth Royal Infirmary, however there will be elements of training based at Ninewells. In addition, there will be a requirement for the post holder to work in the community healthcare settings around the area of PRI, meaning the ability to travel to these different locations is a must for the role.
NHS Tayside Clinical Engineering Section comprises four disciplines: Electronics, Renal, Mechanical, and Anaesthetics, with this role covering elements of all those workshops except Renal. Reportable to the PRI Team Lead, this role will have a large amount of autonomy to manage their own daily workload to ensure clinical demand is met. Responsibilities of the role include equipment procurement support, acceptance of new equipment, commissioning support, routine maintenance, repair, and technical user support for various medical equipment in NHS Tayside.
Flexibility in working hours is expected for service provision, as is the requirement to take part in the high-dependency equipment on-call arrangements.
If a candidate does not fully meet the post requirements, they may still be considered for the appointment using the AFC Annex 21 for a period of up to four years, with a tailored in-house training package dependent upon entry qualifications/experience.
