What we’re looking for?
We’re looking for a Development Officer to join our Technical Training team in Newport on a 12-month fixed term contract to manage the technical development of our operational workforce.
We’ll trust you to:
* Devise training/learning plans and coordinate training to monitor adherence with the relevant Essential Competency Matrices to ensure suitably qualified and experienced people are controlling high risk activities.
* Monitor and deliver annual technical training commitments ensuring that local plans are developed and delivered to maximise efficiency and effectiveness and minimise operational disruption.
* Support the ongoing accurate operation and maintenance of the technical training database and associated training records & Safety and Technical Competencies (STC), remedying errors as they are discovered.
* Maintain records of technical training performance and provide management reports, ensuring that effective interventions occur to maintain compliance position e.g. appropriate work restrictions or deviations.
You’ll need to have:
* Experience of working in utilities/transportation, or in a training/educational environment.
* Experience of managing budgets.
* Extensive knowledge of the day-to-day operation of a Technical Training stream.
* Strong working relationships with Operational First Line Managers (FLM) and Performance Managers (PM).
* A sound understanding of the Legislation relating to gas safety.
* Ability to work to tight timescales whilst maintaining a high performance.
* Experience in managing training and safety compliance through a system and processes.
* Excellent computer skills and able to use standard Microsoft applications.
* Providing training & development advice and solutions to all levels of staff within the workstream/organisation.
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills dealing with business challenges, tight deadlines, and changing variables.
* Must be familiar with legislation, regulations, policy and procedures, and relevant codes of practice.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Desire to learn and develop in the role.
