We require a reliable, enthusiastic and motivated Cook to join our bank. Bank shifts are across the Trust including Berwick/Alnwick, Hexham/Haltwhistle, Cramlington, Ashington, Blyth and North Tyneside. You can pick up shifts at a site that suits you.

Main duties of the job
The role is to support high standards of care to patients accessing our services. You will need to embrace our trust values, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a flexible approach to your work.
You must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and compliance with the department policy on HACCP.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to serve food to patients and/or staff and to check temperature levels and be aware of the Food Temperature Regulations.
Ensure cleanliness of your workstation and adopt a policy of clean as you go, particularly in the cleaning of slicing machines and other areas to the appropriate standard.
The role includes preparation, cooking and dispatch of all types of meals whether fresh, frozen or chilled.
Must be able to demonstrate an awareness of the Food Safety Act and work to the highest standards in both quality and hygiene.
To comply with all mandatory training requirements for Hygiene, Fire, Manual Handling and any other training deemed necessary for the efficient running of catering services.
We particularly require bank Catering Assistants who can cover shifts in the following areas:
* Alnwick
* Blyth
* Hexham
* Ashington
* North Tyneside
We have a variety of shifts across 7 days a week and there will be hours to suit all.
Job responsibilities
To provide a high-quality catering service for patients, staff and visitors trust-wide. Roles and responsibilities include:
* The receipt, checking for quality, temperature, correct quantity as per order to suppliers and the storage of such goods in the appropriate area within the time limits set out in the department policy on HACCP.
* Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and compliance with the department policy on HACCP.
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to serve food to patients and/or staff and to check temperature levels and be aware of the Food Temperature Regulations.
* Maintain cleanliness of your workstation and adopt a policy of clean as you go, particularly in the cleaning of slicing machines and other areas to the appropriate standard.
* The preparation, cooking and dispatch of all types of meals whether fresh, frozen or chilled.
* Must be able to demonstrate an awareness of the Food Safety Act and work to the highest standards in both quality and hygiene.
* To be able to monitor the distribution of meals from the ward trolleys, and the service of meals to the patients, in adherence to Trust policy.
* To comply with all mandatory training requirements for Hygiene, Fire, Manual Handling and any other training deemed necessary for the efficient running of catering services.
* Preparation and service of food to patients on the ward/staff/meals on wheels.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* General Education
* Intermediate Food Hygiene
* 706/1 706/2 or NVQ Level 2/3 or have a proven record of experience in large scale catering and hold the Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate issued by the Institute of Environmental Health Officers or equivalent organisation.
Experience and Knowledge
* Knowledge of work procedures, practices and equipment for a catering service, including advanced food hygiene processes and HACCP.
* One week induction and statutory training.
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to prioritise and organize own workload with competing and changing priorities.
* Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.
* Manual dexterity in the use of knives and other such equipment as required in the performance of their duties.
* Ensure the efficient use of equipment and foodstuffs.
