An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Neonatal Nurse to form a neonatal research team along with a neonatal consultant. The post holder will be a key member of the team and will coordinate the unit's participation in national/international trials. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 7.5 hours a week for research work and the rest of the time as clinical Band 6 neonatal sister.

Main duties of the job
1. To identify potential participants to studies eligible for inclusion on the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) Portfolio.
2. To provide information to potential participants about studies and gain informed consent.
3. To be a point of contact for participants and health professionals and be responsible for managing study data and follow-up of participants.
4. To assist the Lead Research Neonatal Consultant in the development and implementation of the wider Neonatal research agenda.
5. To participate in all ward activities as an effective team member supporting senior sister and taking responsibilities for coordinating a team of staff within a shift.
6. To take responsibility as the prime care provider for a determined group of patients. She/he will work without direct supervision in the assessment group of all relevant care needs, development, and implementation of programmed of care.
7. To supervise and teach junior staff and pre and post registration students whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
8. To develop and maintain a high quality of nursing care based on the Trust's mission statement, core objectives and Nursing, Midwifery & Healthcare Assistant Strategy.
9. To work within the codes of practice, professional guidelines, and Trust policies.
Person Specification
Criteria
* First level nursing qualification with current NMC registration
* ENB 405 or CPD in Neonatal SC/HDU/ITU certificate
* ENB 997/8 or SSSA training for practice supervisors/Assessor
* Minimum of 6 months recent experience in neonatal intensive care post CPPD course.
* Experience of participation in a clinical trial
