Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Oldham, who are seeking a committed and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from 22nd April 2025.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive environment and is dedicated to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning through tailored and compassionate support.
About the Role:
In this role, you will work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to ensure all pupils are able to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support students with SEND in lessons, offering guidance, encouragement and personalised strategies
2. Deliver structured interventions under the direction of the SENCO
3. Help to implement and monitor EHCPs and individual support plans
4. Foster positive relationships with students, promoting confidence and independence
5. Assist with classroom management and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment
6. Communicate regularly with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals where appropriate
Essential Candidate Requirements:
1. Experience working in a UK school or educational setting is essential - applications from those without relevant school-based experience will not be considered
2. A strong understanding of a variety of SEND and effective strategies for support
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young people
4. Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to supporting individual needs
5. An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
6. Availability to begin full-time from Tuesday 22nd April 2025
