Hutcheon Mearns is working exclusively with a growing, founder-led business in Dundee to recruit a Financial Controller. Reporting into the CFO, this job opportunity will take ownership of the day-to-day finance operations while playing a key role in financial planning, reporting and business decision support. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to step into a broad role with clear scope to progress into a Group Financial Controller position as the business scales. The Opportunity Overseeing a small team of 5, you will have a broad remit and interact with key stakeholders across the business. Key responsibilities will include Financial Operations and Reporting; Leading month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring accuracy across the general ledger Producing monthly management accounts, board reports and financial performance analysis Overseeing RD reporting and grant claim submissions Cash Treasury Management Managing short and long term group cashflow forecasts Implement and maintain controls over group cash flow and drive working capital efficiency Budgeting and forecasting Lead all FPA activities including budgeting, forecasting, and long range planning Collaborate with budget holders to build forecasts and reporting dashboards Provide analysis to support strategic decisions and investment planning Team Leadership Support and develop direct reports through regular feedback and coaching Work cross-functionally to improve financial understanding and performance across the business Controls, Compliance and Systems Maintain robust financial controls and ensure systems support business growth Lead on audit and statutory accounts preparation Stay up to date with relevant accounting standards and compliance requirements The Candidate We're looking for a qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or CA) with post qualification experience in a similar role, or looking to step into this level of role. You'll be confident managing core finance operations while also contributing to the wider business planning and strategic discussions. As this is a growing and ambitious business, you will ideally have experience in a fast-paced setting and be a hands-on, detail focussed individual. You will be comfortable leading a small team and managing external relationships. The ideal candidate will take initiative and seek to improve processes and enhance reporting where possible.
