Overview
This individual provides direct patient care as the Center's APRN or PA according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care. Functions within approved scope and credentials as approved by Beebe Medical Center credentialing committee. Must be able to obtain a Delaware license to practice in the field of specialty and hold a DEA upon eligibility.
Responsibilities
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of general surgery patients, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
2. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals.
3. Provide advanced clinical care, including post-operative management, wound care, and other necessary procedures.
4. Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient response.
5. Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures, post-operative care, and discharge instructions.
6. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
7. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
8. Serve as first assist in the OR.
9. Provide consultations in the emergency department and on the nursing units.
Qualifications
MSN with completion of CRNFA or have ample experience in general surgery first assist.
Physician Assistant with Master of PA Studies with first assist experience.
Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
Licensed in the state of Delaware or able to obtain prior to beginning.
Advanced clinical skills in surgical care, including post-operative management and emergency response.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
