Due to continued expansion, Major Recruitment is looking for a dynamic Senior Quality Engineer to support and enhance our client's current Quality Team. The SQE will have the opportunity to develop his/her role, working primarily at our Halesowen head office but also at our manufacturing site in Darlaston. Our machining facility is the largest Graphite Machine Shop of its kind in Europe and boasts state-of-the-art equipment following substantial investment over recent years.
Our client is a family-run organization that has experienced year-on-year growth of 20% due to the company's dominance in its respective market. Investment in its people is a key policy of our client's culture to ensure that we continue to meet the exacting standards of our customers.
The successful candidate will:
1. Develop and maintain FMEA's to ensure all risks are captured in the Process Quality Plan.
2. Create APQP documentation to support new project introduction.
3. Develop Standard Operating Procedures for repeat work and ensure that standardization is adhered to.
4. Conduct regular audits and spot checks to ensure compliance with internal processes and national standards.
5. Manage customer complaints and internal non-conformance using methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa Diagrams, and 5 Why's.
6. Undertake improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and non-conformance.
7. Conduct contract reviews to ensure that requirements are planned and achievable.
8. Design packaging specifications.
9. Train members of staff regarding best practice activities.
The skills desirable for this position are:
1. A strong engineering background is essential, preferably gained within a Machine Shop environment.
2. Must be able to demonstrate experience of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Six Sigma, and Gauge R&R gained in a similar position.
3. Must be able to communicate well at all levels.
4. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. The successful candidate will be able to motivate people and demonstrate his/her contribution to continual improvement activities.
The Qualifications required for this position are:
1. An Engineering qualification to a minimum HNC level is desirable.
2. A CQI Diploma at Level 5 would be a distinct advantage.
This is a permanent, full-time position, Monday to Friday, day shift, 39 hours. Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm, Friday 8am to 1pm.
Salary: £40k plus Bonus.
