On behalf of our client, we are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Management Accountant to join their finance team. Our client is seeking a candidate with a positive attitude towards providing financial support to colleagues and who adopts a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
As a Management Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the finance team. You should be highly numerate, well-organised, and capable of preparing first-class financial information. Your advanced Excel skills and ability to navigate various finance systems will be essential in supporting the financial reporting process and resolving ad-hoc queries.
You will build successful long-term relationships up to Director level and be considered a trusted 'finance partner.' Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to build rapport, influence, and challenge others.
What Youll Be Doing
* Production of monthly management accounts and assisting with annual statutory accounts
* Preparation of budgets and forecasts
* Preparation of financial reports and liaison with budget holders and other stakeholders
* Maintaining technical accounting knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant standards
* Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met
* Managing workload, delivery, and development of assistant management accountants
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Journal processing, including accruals and prepayments
* Reviewing assistant management accountants' work for accuracy
* Interrogating financial systems to identify and correct errors
* Variance analysis
* Ad-hoc reporting and analysis
* Identifying opportunities for improvements
* External returns and reporting
* Assisting with projects and additional responsibilities as needed
Experience and Qualifications:
* Educated to GCSE and A-Level Standard (or equivalent), including passes in English and Maths
* Relevant degree or AAT level 4 (advantage)
* Qualified member of or studying towards (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) is essential
* Suitable for a qualified accountant or someone with five to ten years of relevant experience in the absence of professional qualifications
* Experience in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, and working with financial systems
* Strong all-round IT skills with expert-level Excel skills
* Ability to analyse, interpret, and present information clearly and concisely
* Staff management experience is desirable
* Full clean driving licence and access to a car for occasional travel to other offices as required
