Position : Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer Location : North Lincolnshire - Scuntthorpe Pay : £12.50 per hour Schedule : 8 hours per day working 5 out of 7 Contract : Full-time, Permanent About Us Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) collaborates with local authorities to tackle Fly-Tipping, Duty of Care, Littering, and Dog Fouling issues within the boroughs. We employ advanced technology and industry expertise, combined with a thorough understanding of PACE and relevant legislation, to provide effective solutions. Main Purpose of the Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer role As an Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer, you will patrol the borough in an intelligence-led manner, engaging and educating the community and enforcing legislation as needed. This includes issuing on-the-spot Fixed Penalty Notices and gathering evidence from public complaints about waste-related offences. Key Responsibilities for the Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer Patrol Duties : Follow an agreed deployment strategy to patrol the borough, as directed by your Team Manager. Complaint Investigations : Investigate community complaints and report findings to your Team Manager. Evidence Gathering : Conduct ‘bag searches’ of dumped waste and gather necessary evidence. PACE Interviews : Conduct doorstep interviews with suspected offenders to gather proof points. Public Engagement : Educate the public about Environmental Crime and encourage community participation in keeping the borough clean. Enforcement : Interact with offenders and issue Fixed Penalty Notices for authorised offences. Legislation Knowledge : Stay well-versed in relevant legislation through our bespoke Enviro Crime Induction Course. Documentation : Complete thorough notebook entries and witness statements for each offence issuance. Ideal Candidate Profile for the Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer Communication Skills : Ability to communicate effectively with the public, especially in demanding situations. Investigative Skills : Proficient in conducting investigations and gathering evidence. Initiative : Capable of working independently and as part of a team. Physical Fitness : Fit enough to undertake prolonged foot patrols in all weather conditions. Writing Skills : Clear and concise writing ability.
