Role Information
At our Hair & Beauty Academies, we offer more than just education — we provide a dynamic, hands-on experience in fully operational salons that mirror real-world environments. Learners gain practical skills while training in a professional setting, supported by our wide range of accredited courses spanning Levels 1 to 4. With 13 academies across the country and growing, we’re proud to be building the future of the hair and beauty industry.
As an Academy Manager, you will support the day-to-day operational delivery within the academy ensuring quality of education is at the heart of what we do. You'll need to wear many hats though as you will support in other aspects to ensure the academy's success such as Quality and Commercial activity.
DUTIES
1. Manage and monitor the overall academy performance to maintain high standards of professionalism and quality of the provision, using agreed KPIs to meet key company objectives.
2. Develop and line manage academy staff to ensure delivery of the provision is maintained to a high standard, with the provision fully staffed.
3. Effectively manage team performance and underperformance through robust and timely reviews with the use of observation outcomes and RAG ratings where appropriate.
4. Ensure that all Tutors/Assessors maintain their CPD requirements in line with the guidelines as specified by the awarding body.
5. Develop strategies and drive improvements concerning learner attendance, retention, and achievement.
6. Responsible for producing daily/weekly/monthly reports concerning academy performance and learner progress and reporting to the executive team where required.
7. Support the Maths & English department in the management of the functional skills scheduling and ensure all teaching staff participate in the classroom delivery of the functional skills.
8. Contribute to the actions set out in the Quality Improvement Plan and ensure that it is disseminated to all Academy staff and that the QIP actions are delivered.
9. Manage the review process ensuring that progress reviews are completed timely.
10. Ensure that the academy is cost-effective with monitoring and management of budgeted expenditures.
EMPLOYER & LEARNER LIAISON
1. Support the sales team with employer engagement activity including managing open days and employer visits.
2. Support the implementation of improvement strategies resulting from the employer satisfaction surveys.
3. Assist the sales team with recruitment of learners, reporting on profile targets and monitor outcomes.
4. Manage the learner voice process to ensure that all learners complete the surveys and report the outcomes in the monthly report and implement changes as agreed with the Academies Manager.
5. Provide support for learners and impartial information, advice and guidance as required throughout their learning experience.
6. Ensure that learners receive adequate ALS and reviews are carried out monthly.
SAFEGUARDING & PREVENT
1. Perform the Designated Safeguarding Officer duties as required and ensure all staff within the academy are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities and escalation processes for reporting Safeguarding issues.
2. Responsible for supporting the development of safeguarding and child protection policies, training and procedures, and guidance for the Hair and Beauty Academies and assisting in the coordination of referrals, arranging action, and reviewing services for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
3. Encourage good practice across the Hair and Beauty Academies by promoting and championing the LCG Safeguarding policy and procedures.
4. Support Lead Safeguarding Officers in completing professional assessments of need and risk.
QUALITY & COMPLIANCE
1. Work collaboratively with the Quality team to effectively monitor and manage all Academy provision, including performance management and audit compliance.
2. Support the Quality manager and IQA’s by contributing to the IQA strategy and schedule.
3. Support the IQA with standardisation of the delivery of the Hairdressing and Beauty practical skills as required by the VRQ/NVQ/Apprenticeship standards and ensure Tutors deliver in accordance with agreed guidelines.
4. Support IQA to ensure appropriate quality assurance checks are conducted within the curriculum area in line with Academy audit policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE
1. Experience in the FE sector at a management or team leader level.
2. Experience in delivering and assessing apprenticeships, study programmes, or adult education.
3. Strong digital literacy, proficient in using online learning platforms and management systems.
4. Experience in managing a team and developing relationships with colleagues at all levels.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
1. Knowledge of Ofsted and the EIF.
2. Knowledge of the PFA and ESFA Audits and guidelines.
3. Knowledge of different funding streams.
4. Excellent communication skills at all levels.
5. Passionate about learner achievement and progression.
6. Highly organised and able to effectively manage workload and priorities.
7. Adaptable and able to work under pressure with strong attention to detail.
8. Strong organisational and time management skills.
9. Committed to continuous professional development and excellence in education delivery.
10. Creative thinker and able to communicate new ideas.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Beauty and/or Hairdressing.
2. Recognised teaching qualification (minimum Level 3 Award in Education & Training, preferred Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training).
3. Assessors Award (e.g., TAQA/A1, D32/D33).
4. GCSE C grade (or equivalent e.g L2 Functional Skills) in Maths & English.
