At The Myton Hospices, we provide specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones, from the point of diagnosis to end of life. We are a much loved and well supported charity at the heart of our community. We have three hospices, a range of community services, and 25 charity shops in Coventry and Warwickshire.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Nursing Assistant to join our Myton at Home team. The Myton at Home service provides expert and compassionate care to patients in their own homes, at a crucial time in their lives.

Main duties of the job
Our Myton at Home Nursing Assistants:
15. Support Registered Nurses to deliver holistic nursing care
16. Communicate sensitively with patients, families and caregivers
17. Assess and respond to patients' needs
18. Maintain patient records
19. Assist patients with personal and emotional care
This role involves travel to home visits within the Warwickshire area between the hours of 8am - 8pm. You will be based at our Warwick Hospice but required to work at our Rugby and Coventry Hospices on occasion.
About you

Job responsibilities
Role Purpose
To support the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care to the patients and their family/caregivers, in their own home, providing evidence based, individualised end of life care. To support the Primary Healthcare teams in the delivery of its services, in line with the District nurses care plan, whilst adhering to statutory regulations and Hospice policies.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
31. To work under the direct care and indirect supervision of the Myton at Home Lead in the delivery of quality holistic nursing care for patients in their own homes.
32. Respond to the specific needs of palliative care patients and their significant others, in line with agreed care plans.
33. Recognise and report any changes in patients' condition and where appropriate provide care and support under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
34. Communicate effectively and sensitively to patients, their significant others and other professionals, referring questions and concerns to the appropriate personnel.
35. Assess and reassess patients' capabilities as needs change regarding assistance with the activities of daily living and emotional care including:
36. Personal care including hair, nails, shaving
37. Mouth care
38. Toileting needs, continence issues/care
39. Drinking and eating
40. Mobility, assisting patients and utilising safe moving and handling techniques / equipment to help maintain skin integrity
41. Comfort measures and reassuring presence
42. Provide emotional support to patients and those that are important to them, including post-bereavement support
43. Ensure safe and responsible use of equipment, identifying and reporting any malfunction, taking action to maintain safety as directed
44. Provide practical support to the family in terms of guidance and advice around safe delivery of personal care when appropriate
45. Where appropriate assist with 'last offices' and support other nursing staff with the care of the deceased
46. Help promote and maintain an environment that is safe and conducive to meeting the needs of patients, their relatives and friends
47. Promote and maintain dignity and privacy at all times
48. Take into account, and meet, the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of the patient, their relatives and friends

Confidentiality & Data Protection

All employees must be aware of infection prevention and control policies and are expected to follow them at all times. Any breach of infection control policies which places patients, visitors or colleagues at risk may result in disciplinary action.
