NEPSEC Training Centre Manager and Assistant Director

We are seeking a new Training Centre Manager and Deputy Director for the North of England Pathology and Screening Education Centre based in Wakefield.
The role of NEPSEC is to lead on the development of the workforce to meet the requirements of the cervical cancer screening programme, both now and in the future.
Additionally, the centre provides training to support those providing a diagnostic cytology service and course programmes that support the development of Biomedical Scientists undertaking specimen dissection and histopathology reporting.
NEPSEC also provides sample taker training at update and basic levels for the cervical screening programme in the East Midlands and basic training of nurses in the South East Coast of England. It achieves this through close working relationships with those involved in these different areas to develop a range of appropriate, high-quality training initiatives and programmes.
Main Duties of the Job
1. In conjunction with the SYBP Scientific Director, responsible for operational, financial, HR, and strategic management.
2. Strategic alignment of training centre with the goals and objectives of SYB Pathology.
3. Provision of a comprehensive training service, its sustainability, and continuous development.
4. Quality of service and its continuous improvement to provide effective and user-centric training.
5. Financial planning and delegated budget management, including working to agreed financial targets.
6. Development and management of sustainable commercial and income-generating capabilities.
7. Implementation and management of policies and procedures of the Organisation.
8. Compliance with National and Local legislations and policies.
9. Management of compliance with service agreements and contracts.
10. Staff engagement and continuous workforce support and development.
11. Active engagement with service users, Commissioners, professional bodies, academia, and industry.
12. Promotion of the values of the Host Trust and a culture of transparency, accountability, and responsibility.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Master level in Biomedical/Clinical Science, or equivalent experience.
* Registration with HCPC as Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist.
* Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
* Attained the RCPath/IBMS Certificate in Advanced Practice in Cervical Cytology.
* NHSCSP or BSCC/IBMS Certificate of competence.
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
Experience
* Experience in staff management in multiple supervisory positions and leading complex teams.
* Experience in Training Course Planning.
* Proven leadership skills in a complex, challenging environment.
* Extensive experience of successful senior management in a complex pathology department.
* Extensive experience of management of staff in line with established HR policies.
* Demonstrable knowledge of a wide range of management policies.
* Understanding of the centre and wider NHS training agenda.
* Demonstrable experience of budget management.
* Extensive experience in Pathology training management.
* Proven track record in the development and delivery of business plans aligned with the organisation's strategic direction.
* Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills.
Skills and Knowledge
* Relevant scientific and clinical knowledge appropriate to cytology.
* Proven leadership skills in a complex environment.
* Knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, and accreditation requirements.
* Excellent time management skills.

* Competent user of MS Office applications including MS Teams.
