With a newly acquired UK AOC, Ascend Airways is operating a small fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market, opening its first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, operating a fleet of 221 aircraft on 6 continents.
The group also provides a range of aviation services: MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), pilot and crew training, ground handling, as well as a variety of associated aviation services. We are currently recruiting for a Power Plant Manager who will report to the Technical Director and is responsible for the continuing airworthiness and asset management of all power plants installed on the Ascend Airways CAMO managed fleet, in accordance with all applicable Aviation Regulations and International Standards.
Responsibilities:
* Ensuring that all relevant continuing airworthiness management activities comply with all applicable Aviation Regulations.
* Performing power plant related Continuing Airworthiness Management activities, as defined in the company's approved exposition.
* Working closely with the OEM on engine development issues and specifically, the maturity program for the CFM LEAP 1B engine.
* Ensuring that all available warranties are secured and agreed with the OEM to support casualty and scheduled engine shop visits.
* Engine modelling to ensure that individual engine shop visits are optimized taking into account LLP life, performance degradation, and cost.
* Liaison with the OEM to ensure that the fleet engine status is reported, resulting in a proactive approach to optimizing time on wing.
* Supporting and providing inputs into the Aircraft Maintenance Programmes (AMP).
* The scoping of engine shop visit work scopes, liaising with the aircraft lessors when required to ensure shop visit work scope approvals are agreed in advance.
* Oversight and approval of mandatory and non-mandatory continued airworthiness instructions for incorporation on the company power plants.
* Support the line maintenance operations when required to ensure any power plant related defects are resolved in a timely manner.
* Work with the Head of Supply Chain on engine part procurement, ensuring that all procurement parts meet the requirements of the given aircraft lease agreement.
* Willingness to travel between our Bishops Stortford to Gatwick Offices, and to visit Ascend Airways Malaysia when required.
Required Experience (essential):
* Expert knowledge of commercial Continuing Airworthiness Management principles and practices - Extensive proven experience in a similar role - Required.
* Detailed knowledge of the CFM LEAP 1B and CFM56-7B engine and experience of dealing with the OEM – Required.
* Experience of dealing with aircraft Lessors in relation to engine shop visits - Required.
* Theoretical and practical application-level knowledge of AOC Operations - Required.
* UK CAA and EASA Aviation Regulations - Required.
* Managing the continuing airworthiness of a commercial aircraft - Required.
* Practical application-level knowledge of Safety Management System (SMS) principles and requirements as applicable in the aviation environment - Required.
* Demonstrable change management experience - Advantageous.
* Technical Qualifications:
* EASA / CAA / Other Part 66 B1 or B2 Aircraft Engineer License, or equivalent, or
* Relevant Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering Degree, or
* 5 GCSE (O-Levels) at minimum Grade C / BTEC equivalent / Aviation Apprenticeship with proven relevant industry experience, or Relevant Engine Type Training or General Familiarisation Training - Required.
