The role of the Instructional Designer is to provide efficient and effective instructional and content design support to the faculty to design, produce, and edit multimedia elements (e.g. photos, illustrations, and video) to create quality and engaging courses and development of online master course templates for various academic online programs, The Instructional Designer will also provide instructional design, development, and consultation services related to online and blended courses, modules, curriculum activities, and training while adhering to best practices and criteria for distance education programs outlined by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Title IV-Department of Education, Quality Matters, and Section 508 Accessibility, and other industry recognized Standards.
The Instructional Designer will also provide analysis of course and lesson learning objectives and desired outcomes to construct quality aligned online structures and content by partnering with subject matter experts from each academic unit, Additional responsibilities include diverse tasks that may include training consultation, policy and procedure development, conducting needs assessment, research and analysis, and project planning.
Reporting directly to the Instructional Technology Director, incumbent:
1. Develops instructional materials (tutorials, references, audio, and video scripts, storyboards, navigational text, tests, etc.) that transform complex, unorganized information into professionally written, clear, interactive, and effective content.
2. Designs, deploys, evaluates, and maintains master course templates for online courses.
3. Provides course design consultation and best practice support for online and blended course instructors.
4. Develops strategies for integrating premium content into course-ware to create high quality, engaging and interactive instructional content.
5. Facilitates face-to-face and virtual training and workshops for faculty to educate and demonstrate current course design, content, or instructional technologies.
6. Designs, develops, and edits interactive activities that are geared to multiple learning styles.
7. Evaluates, plans, and applies Section 508 Standards throughout courses and training products to ensure Institutional accessibility compliance.
8. Provides prompt, courteous, and efficient customer services to faculty.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Considerable years of experience in educational training environment with experience developing and supporting online learning including storyboarding, the use of graphics, digital photography, and audio- visual materials to develop engaging courses.
2. Flexible, versatile and resilient with confidence in a fast-paced working environment.
3. Must possess an expert level of competence using multimedia tools to design and develop course content an activities (e.g., Adobe Presenter 1 1 Adobe Captivate. Photoshop, Adobe Creative Cloudi Adobe Stocki SoftChaiki HTML, CSSi and JavaScript).
4. Must possess good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work both independently and as a team member.
5. Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages as indicated in the above job description.
6. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
7. Ability to handle multiple competing tasks and work both independently and as a team member.
8. Knowledge and skills in a wide array of learning technologies and products.
9. Knowledge of current eLearning technologies and online course development principles.
10. Ability to work well with faculty and staff and provide excellent customer service performing all duties professionally, timely, and courteously.
11. Experience in project management, group facilitation, and consultation.
12. Must be able to author, edit, and maintain technical documentation and training materials.
13. Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Instructional/Course Design, Educational Technology, or similar discipline.
14. Proficiency with Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, or proprietary LMS, along with LMS tool integrations.
15. Must have experience in developing Section 508-compliant content and web content.
16. Must demonstrate knowledge of the Quality Matters standards and rubric.
17. Knowledge of storyboards.
18. Understanding of basic production and implementation of media elements such as graphics, sound, and video.
19. Must currently be a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer or be able to obtain the Quality Matters Peer
20. Reviewer Certification within the first year of employment.
21. Previous online teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in Education Technology
2. Previous experience providing support services both online and in person.
3. Previous working knowledge of Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Content System, Blackboard Community System, Blackboard Ally, and Blackboard Collaborate.
4. Previous experience as an Online Faculty.
5. Previous experience serving in a higher education environment in an instructional* training, or technical capacity.
6. Previous experience supporting learning technologies in Windows and Mac/OS environments as well as with Android and iOS mobile devices.
7. Knowledge and skill with project management practices.
8. Significant understanding and experience with technology management.
9. Quality Matters Peer Reviewer Certification.
