An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Portsmouth Football Club as Partnerships Manager. This role sits within the Commercial Department. The Partnerships Manager’s role focuses on maximising the Organisation’s sponsorship revenue, by developing existing relationships and identifying new opportunities. In this role, you will proactively manage the sponsorship portfolio, through contract servicing and relationship management. We are looking for a team-player who has an innovative, data-driven and outcome-led approach with an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of sales and relationship management. The successful candidate will be a proactive individual who values nurturing client relationships as well as new business acquisition. Excellent communications skills, in both written accuracy and verbal articulation are ‘a must’ for this role. We are looking for a values-driven, resilient individual with excellent organisational skills. The ideal person will have a minimum of two years’ experience within sponsorship sales and relationship management and must be flexible and willing to work irregular working patterns in response to operational needs. Hours: Full-time, including regular weekend and evening work Salary: Competitive Job Purpose Responsible for maximising the Organisation’s sponsorship revenue by identifying new and developing existing relationships with Portsmouth Football Club’s partners and key stakeholders. Ensure the sponsorship portfolio is proactively managed, through contract servicing and relationship management; whilst ensuring a progressive, data-driven, and outcome-led approach. Key Responsibilities Commercial Sales Implement a strategy for identifying, prospecting and engaging with potential new clients Deliver strategy by proactively securing new sponsorship opportunities, whether through outbound calling or other outlets Contact and visit potential clients to prospect for new business and grow sponsorship revenue Negotiate sponsorship agreements that deliver high revenue growth, brand awareness and long-term value for both the client and Portsmouth Football Club. Represent the Organisation at corporate and networking events to proactively seek new business Ensure a data-driven and outcome-led approach is adopted across the sponsorship portfolio Proactively deal with inbound sponsorship enquiries by providing clients with timely and accurate information Responsible for working with key stakeholders within the Club to manage the delivery of sponsorship rights, including but not limited to ticketing, hospitality, marketing and social media Overall responsibility for ensuring sponsorship rights are activated to a high standard each season, including planning and delivering activities such as match day activations, player appearances and open training sessions Ensure that the administration of sponsorship agreements are undertaken accurately Ensure all sponsorship agreements are profitable and overall budget is achieved Relationship Management Engage with sponsors and hospitality guests during match days to ensure their customer experience is maximised Gain an in-depth understanding of each client’s business, whilst identifying future opportunities to expand their relationship with Portsmouth Football Club Seek feedback and data-driven insight into the effectiveness of their relationship with Portsmouth Football Club Maintain and develop positive relationships with existing clients Deliver an end of year impact report for each principal and main sponsor Miscellaneous Other reasonable and related duties as requested by the Director of Sales or Chief Executive About The Candidate 1. Professional Experience Two years’ experience within sponsorship sales for a professional sports team Successful background in sales and relationship management Understanding of professional sport, ideally football, including the importance of sponsorship Proven experience dealing with a varied workload, whilst managing the expectations of various clients Experience of attending networking events 2. Skills and knowledge Proven successful track record in sales Successful track record of managing multiple client accounts whilst selling to new businesses Track record of networking and developing good relationships Stakeholder management Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and manage/prioritise own time effectively Ability to be flexible with working hours and patterns of working A commitment to continuous improvement Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Excel 3.
