Independent Visitor to Children in Care - Clacton
ECC are looking for adult volunteers to become Independent Visitors and establish good quality, long-term relationships with individual children and young people in care.
Male and female volunteers are urgently needed, to befriend and visit children in care who are placed in foster homes and residential units outside of Essex.
Often these young people feel very isolated and would benefit hugely from visits from a volunteer who could regularly spend time with them. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to travel once a month to visit the child or young person that they are matched with to spend time together and have fun. (Mileage will be reimbursed.)
Most children and young people in care lack a consistent relationship with an adult and miss out on the experiences and opportunities this can offer them. As an Independent Visitor you will meet with them about once a month to take them out, have fun and be a good role model.
You should be able to commit for two years, thereby providing the young person with long-term consistency.
Before you can become an Independent Visitor, ECC undertakes references and checks, including a DBS (criminal records) check.
You will need to complete a two-day training programme, safeguarding training, and will be provided with ongoing support and supervision.
This opportunity is available in: Braintree, Colchester, Tendring
