We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer School EFL Teachers to join our team during the summer months. The Summer School Teachers will be responsible for delivering engaging and interactive lessons to international students, aged 13-17, who will be attending our residential summer school program. The teachers will work closely with the Director of Summer School, Director of Studies, and other staff members to create a memorable and educational experience for the students.
We are looking to fill both residential and non-residential positions.
Contract Type: Temporary, Full-time
Duration: 40 days (Thursday 26th June to Sunday 4th August inclusive)
Salary: £600 - £720 per week depending on qualifications, experience and whether the post is residential or non-residential.
(£672 - £806.90 per week including holiday pay)

Padworth College is an independent boarding and day school located in the charming village of Padworth, near Reading in the United Kingdom. The College provides a supportive and nurturing environment for students. Padworth's summer school is unique because it is organized by the school itself. It offers a variety of academic options and modules for students aged 13-17 during the summer months of July and August. The focus is not only on academic development, but also on character building.

Responsibilities:
Academic:
1. Become familiar with the PSS syllabus, materials and resources for your specific subjects during the induction period.
2. Plan and deliver high-quality lessons to international students in line with the project-based curriculum provided.
3. Support Director of Studies, organizing, setting up and running the Hackathons.
4. Lead and show enthusiasm during Business visits and University taster days, ensuring these are kept academic in nature.
5. Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, interaction, and learning.
6. Develop creative and stimulating teaching materials and resources that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
7. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, technologies, and methodologies to ensure an engaging and dynamic learning experience.
8. Monitor and assess student progress to provide timely and constructive feedback.
9. Create and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and supported.
10. Collaborate with the Summer School Head of Sport and Activities and other staff members to support and participate in extracurricular activities, excursions, and cultural events.
11. Ensure adherence to our safeguarding and health and safety policies.
12. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and any incidents or concerns.
13. Arrive promptly for each lesson and teach until the end of the class.
14. Manage student behaviour and promote good conduct both in and outside the classroom.
15. Provide cover if necessary to enable teachers to conduct peer observations.
16. Provide cover for sick/absent teachers in liaison with the Director of Studies.
17. Support teachers with general lesson preparation and planning.
18. Assist the Director of Studies in keeping the staff work room organised and tidy.
19. Respond to ad-hoc academic management tasks as they arise in conjunction with the Director of Studies.
Enrichment:
1. Take part in one half-day university taster day/business HQ visit followed by an excursion as well as one full-day excursion each week and attend the relevant briefings for these days.
2. Collaborate with the Summer School Head of Sports and Activities and other staff members to support extracurricular activities, excursions, and festivals.
3. Assist or lead on a maximum of one evening trip per week between 19:00-22:00 (Cinema, Bowling, Ice-Skating) as per activities rota. More details will be given at orientation training.
4. Ensure adherence to our safeguarding and health and safety policies at all times.
5. Support on arrivals and departures day, which may include going to the airport for student arrivals/departures or staying on campus for teambuilding activities or departures duties.
6. Remain professional at all times when representing the college on or off campus.
Boarding and Pastoral (Residential Only):
1. Assist Head of Boarding and Pastoral and boarding parents with enforcing rules in the Residences.
2. Assist with accommodation and room preparations, including labels for doors.
3. Assist with clean up of accommodation blocks on the 4th August.
4. Assist with a night-time fire drill in liaison with relevant boarding parents.
5. Provide cover for boarding parents on occasions of absence, including potentially staying in the boarding residence overnight.
6. Report any students who appear unwell to the Head of Boarding and Pastoral and/or Assistant Director.
7. Deal with any emergency situation that may arise during the night to ensure the safety of students and staff.
8. Make time to talk to and, more importantly, to listen to students throughout the day.
9. Maintain good communication with the boarding parents and senior management team to ensure the best possible pastoral care of students.
Person Specification:
1. Bachelor's degree is essential. Preferably in a relevant subject area (e.g., English, Languages, TESOL etc).
2. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, CELTA, DELTA). 120-hour TEFL qualifications are not accepted unless recognised as a Level 5 by Ofqual.
3. Proven experience in teaching international students, preferably in a summer school or similar educational setting.
4. Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies and assessment methods.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
6. Flexible and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
7. Enthusiasm for cultural exchange and the ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment for students from different backgrounds.
8. Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
9. Commitment to professional growth and development, including staying updated with current educational practices and trends.
10. A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
Hours of work:
Teaching: Teachers will teach a maximum of 21 hours of class per week between 09:00-15:00 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. They will also support on one university taster day/business HQ visit each Wednesday 09:00-13:30, as well as a half-day excursion 13:30-18:00 on the same Wednesday. Teachers will also support on one full-day excursion per week (Saturday) between 08:00-18:00.
Enrichment: Non-residential Teachers may have a maximum of one evening duty per week 19:00-21:30. Residential Teachers will have a maximum of one evening duty per week 19:00-21:30, usually a trip to bowling, the cinema or ice-skating.
Teachers will receive a full 24-hour period off each week, generally on Sundays. Meals and accommodation are provided for the duration of the contract.
