Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (Full-Time)

We are looking for a committed and patient Learning Support Assistant to join our school in Luton, providing full-time support to children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism. This role is crucial in helping students access their education and thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism and hold a relevant qualification.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with autism, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning programs to meet the specific needs of each student.
3. Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning materials and strategies to ensure accessibility for all students.
4. Help manage any social, emotional, or behavioral challenges students may face.
5. Support students in developing independence and self-confidence in both academic and social settings.
6. Keep accurate records of students' progress and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other staff.
7. Assist with personal care tasks if needed, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Essential Criteria:
1. A recognized qualification in Autism or equivalent experience.
2. Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism.
3. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
5. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience working in an educational setting (primary or secondary).
2. First Aid training or a willingness to complete training.
3. An understanding of safeguarding procedures and practices.
