We are a team of highly skilled and trained scientists who work from purpose-built, UKAS accredited laboratories in Sittingbourne, Slough and Manchester.
Now part of the Genuit Group’s Climate Management Solutions (CMS) business unit, Alpha has ambitious growth plans.
The Role
The Chemistry Analyst is responsible for running their assigned method to ensure the timely processing of client samples, while adhering to Alpha Scientific ISO 17025 accreditation and H&S policies for the department.
* Run assigned methods, demonstrating understanding of technical requirements.
* Perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data supporting scientific investigations and meeting client turnaround times.
* Carry out routine tasks accurately following strict methodologies.
* Enter data into LIMS and prioritize workload using LIMS.
Working hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday 8:30am-5pm.
Location: Fully onsite in Sittingbourne.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the lab rota for sample collection from the Sittingbourne Post Office.
* Unpack and sort daily samples for analysis.
* Calibrate and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
* Conduct test procedures on samples using ICP-OES, Gallery Plus, filtration, etc.
* Record daily QC data.
* Complete laboratory check sheet tasks including weekly and monthly checks.
* Perform production testing and release.
* Prepare and verify standards and QCs.
* Dispose of old samples appropriately.
* Maintain personal training records.
* Commit to continuous improvement following ISO 17025 quality systems.
* Work collaboratively within a team to achieve laboratory goals.
* Communicate effectively within and between teams.
* Approach tasks methodically with high accuracy and attention to detail.
* Maintain high computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, databases).
* Organize and prioritize workload flexibly.
* Keep work areas tidy and practices organized.
The Person
* Degree or equivalent in science, preferably chemistry.
* Ability to work methodically and professionally under pressure.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Good awareness of health and safety procedures.
