We are looking for experienced Mental Health Nurses and/or Social Workers to join our very well-established Young Persons (8 to 18) Eating Disorders Service.
You will play an important role providing specialist assessments, care planning and a range of evidence-based interventions.
You will also support the experienced clinical and operational leadership team with leadership tasks and oversight of specific areas of responsibility.
This will be a varied role working as part of a multidisciplinary team and with professionals across agencies. You will deliver care and support to people from a community base and hospitals, and where required, to people in their own homes, as part of our daily intensive treatment pathway.
Role Summary:
We are based in 2 hubs, the North (covering Oldham, Bury and HMR) and the South (covering Stockport, Trafford and T&G). This post will be based in the North hub at Bury.
The post holder will provide mental health assessment, including assessment of eating disorder and offer a wide range of psycho-therapeutic evidenced based interventions for children, young people, and families, supported by clinical outcome measures.
The post holder will also provide professional clinical supervision and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other practitioners and contribute to the leadership of the service under the direction of the Ops Manager and Clinical Lead.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities of the Post:
* To ensure high quality CAMHS and eating disorder assessment of children, young people and families referred to the CED service.
* To provide specialist psychological assessment for children and young people.
* To autonomously formulate and implement psychological and physical treatment plans.
* To carry a case load within the CEDs service and offer specific treatment modalities.
* To undertake risk assessment and management.
* Contribute and carry out clinical audits of service performance.
* To provide consultation and training.
* To engage in/deliver managerial and clinical supervision.
* To provide specialist advice and consultation.
* Work as a co-therapist where appropriate.
* To be responsible for and manage a defined caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
* Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service referral protocols.
* Use highly developed communication skills.
* Adhere to an agreed number of contacts.
* Will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including evening and weekend working as required.
* Measure the effectiveness of clinical work by use of Routine Outcome Measure (ROM).

Person specification
Education/Qualifications
* Qualifications and experience to Master’s Level in any relevant discipline e.g. nursing, social work, clinical psychology or occupational therapy
* Experience/ training in motivational interviewing/ CBT or willingness to work towards
* Additional post graduate qualifications relevant to child mental health
* Additional accredited training
* Specialist post qualification training in psychological therapy with children and families to at least equivalent of a post graduate diploma level
* Non-medical Prescribing.
Experience
* Substantial experience of working with children, adolescents and families. Working with young people with eating disorders
* Managing a caseload and associated professional activities under supervision.
* Experience of providing evidence based psychological therapy to children and adolescents.
* Experience of providing clinical supervision and line management to team members
Knowledge
* Theoretical approach and understanding to child mental health and development.
* Ability to demonstrate evidence of up-to-date knowledge of eating disorders and its application to children and young people.
* Specific theoretical knowledge related to therapeutic speciality.
* Understanding of principles and methods of clinical audit research and service evaluation
Skills and Abilities
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, complex, technical and sensitive information to children, young people and families/carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
* Ability to work autonomously and to use initiative.
* Ability to be self-reflective whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision
* Be able to listen carefully to a young person who may be distressed and be able to maintain the therapeutic role and task.
Work Related Circumstances
* Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends if required to meet the demands of the service.
* Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced CRB disclosure and registration with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA), Vetting and Barring Scheme.
