Overview: Rose Blossom Care Services is a five bedroom newly refurbished residential care home in Bolton, which provides care for 3 children/young people. The home will provide residential long-term care and support to up to 3 young people aged 7-17. We are looking for a well organised, passionate and driven leader who can build a team and create a “family” for our children. The successful candidate will play a big part in the development of future homes and services giving further opportunities to candidates who are looking for career progression.
Job Purpose: As the Registered Children's Home Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee the effective operation and management of our residential children’s home, prioritising the needs of vulnerable children and young people. You will ensure that the home operates in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice guidelines, focusing on providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for all children. Your role is pivotal in delivering high-quality care and support that meets each child's needs, promoting their well-being, development, and empowerment. You will maintain accountability and responsibility for the management of the people and teams around the children in the home.
Registered Manager Responsibilities:
1. Following the safer recruitment process when recruiting new team members.
2. Providing robust training and development opportunities.
3. Responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures are up to date with current legislation and guidance.
4. Carrying out administrative duties to ensure that your oversight of the service is effective and you are able to identify any areas of development.
5. Building partnerships with local community support networks and networking with other professionals.
6. Be the primary contact for the people within the service, ensuring that they are supported.
7. Coaching and mentoring the team around the placement plan objectives defined by the Registered Service Manager.
8. Ensuring consistency of teams and care around each child.
9. Ensure team members are aware of where and when they are working, to ensure consistency for our children.
10. Provide robust supervision for your team and ensure probation reviews and appraisals are completed.
11. Manage and monitor human resource costs, staffing structures and rota’s, ensuring they meet the children’s needs and are in line with allocated budgets.
12. Ensure any Regulation 44 visits, LA visits and Ofsted inspections are supported and facilitated by the Registered Manager.
13. Liaise with external organisations promptly and efficiently when required, to enable adherence of the regulations.
14. Ensure that the homes function in such a manner that employees and children understand, recognise and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community.
15. Ensure that all contact visits are facilitated and supported and that arrangements are in place for employee travel and accommodation including appropriate risk assessment.
16. To assist in the motivation of young people to take an active part in decision making and be involved as much as possible to the design and delivery of the service they receive.
Qualifications: NVQ level 3 or equivalent, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or willingness to undertake training to achieve this. Willing to register as a Registered Manager with OFSTED. Proficient numeracy/literary skills equivalent to GCSE or above in English and Math qualifications.
Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), quality standards and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework. Experience of working with children at a senior level and can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operational management within service provision.
Skills and Abilities: Show empathy and compassion to the children and their circumstances due to the trauma and abuse many of our children suffer. Able to communicate to a high standard with a range of people using a variety of communication aids. Good organisational and administrative skills.
Qualities: You need to be of good character and integrity. Physically able to use safer handling techniques if and when required to safeguard children. Positive attitude towards diversity in general and specifically towards the rights, independence and inclusion of children in the care of the local authority.
