Lemon Drizzle Recruitment have been exclusively appointed to recruit an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor for a civils subcontractor based in Teesside.
Company Overview
This company offers a unique USP in the world of civils and surfacing. Established in 2019 and part of a bigger group of companies, they've gone from strength to strength, steadily growing their turnover year upon year. They specialise in road surfacing, groundworks, remediation and civil engineering works.
They work on new build housing developments with projects ranging from £2k - £1.5m, along with some commercial projects and future work will include bigger projects with local authorities. They have a dynamic team and offer a relaxed culture where everyone gets stuck in to get the job done. Working in a small team means you'll juggle multiple projects simultaneously and you will be exposed to the other key roles within the business along with Estimating and Quantity Surveying. You'll be office based 8-5 Mon-Fri and will be expected to visit site as and when required. Flexibility will be offered as and when needed, this company appreciates sometimes things come up and work needs to fit around it.
Responsibilities
The Estimator/Quantity Surveyor is responsible for accurately estimating costs, managing budgets, and ensuring financial control of construction projects from inception through to completion.
1. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender documents for construction projects, including labour, materials, and equipment.
2. Budget Management: Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and aligned with project goals.
3. Valuation: Conduct regular valuations of ongoing work, ensuring payments and valuations are processed in accordance with contractual terms.
4. Cost Reporting: Provide timely and accurate cost reports, forecasting final costs and identifying areas for cost-saving opportunities.
5. Contract Management: Review, prepare, and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with legal standards and project specifications.
6. Risk Management: Identify potential financial and contractual risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment between cost estimates and project deliverables.
8. Final Accounts: Prepare and manage final accounts, ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of all costs.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction processes, cost management, and contracts, and will collaborate with project teams to deliver cost-effective and timely results.
1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum 4 years of experience in quantity surveying or estimation in the construction industry.
3. Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
4. Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, or specialised quantity surveying software).
5. Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
6. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
7. Knowledge of contract law and standard forms of contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
8. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
9. Strong organisational and time-management skills.
