About the Role
This position is for a Family Support Worker in the Connected Persons’ Team. The connected Persons’ team is a key part of Rochdale’s commitment to promoting kinship care, where we aim to enable children entering care to remain within their family network wherever possible.
As a Family Support Worker on the Connected Persons’ Team you will be expected to support the team in the completion of statutory requirements including application packs and DBS applications and be able to put processes in place to track the completion of these in a timely manner. You will work alongside Social Workers to contribute to the completion of kinship care assessments supporting with personal references and direct work with children and young people.
You will contribute to the delivery of training and support groups and work toward developing the local support offer for kinship carers and their families. There is opportunity to develop skills in this role that would prepare you for progression within the social care profession with support from your colleagues and line manager.
About you
The children, young people and families we work with come from a variety of backgrounds and in order to deliver the best possible care and support, it is vital that we have a workforce that is culturally competent, representative and understands their unique experiences and perspectives. You will have experience of working within a family support worker role or be experienced working with children and young people. Experience of working with kinship carers or within Children Social Care would be advantageous. You will have good organisational skills and be motivated to work within a fast paced team.

This is an exciting time to be joining the service as we have established three Mockingbird Hubs, a Supported Lodgings Service and the fostering team are also working closely with the No Wrong Door hub. In addition we are training all our foster carers in the Secure Base model and Therapeutic Parenting with PACE training. Rochdale BC have adopted and implemented the Family Safeguarding Model and are supporting families to achieve good outcomes in a relational way. In line with this model, motivational interviewing training has been rolled out to all staff.
