As the Social Value Manager, you will ensure robust policies, processes, and procedures to support customers' social value objectives. You will manage stakeholders to implement best practices in Process, Technology, Data, and Skills. Key responsibilities include adherence to social value governance, overseeing data collection and reporting, managing communications, chairing working groups, collaborating with stakeholders, and engaging with industry clients. You will support the Sustainability Leadership Team and work closely with various teams to deliver on expectations.
What you’ll do:
1. Develop, own and maintain policy, processes and procedures for social value management at both Business Unit and Operating Unit levels.
2. Coordinate social value communications at a Business Unit level, including both Business Unit and Operating Unit approaches.
3. Be responsible for coordination of social value data collection, including ownership of data collection protocols, external bodies supporting social value measurement, and support to OUs and projects in data collection and submission.
4. Develop and own social value reporting at Business Unit and Operating Unit level i.e. quarterly reports etc.
5. Chair a forum and develop coordination and management processes for social value activity across Operating Units.
6. Collaborate with key stakeholders across the BU, particularly HR and Procurement, to align activities to a BU social value approach.
7. Establish and maintain a detailed understanding of Skanska UK’s customers’ approaches to social value and continue to build into our approach.
8. Own and manage selected BU level community and social value related items i.e. Lend-A-Hand volunteering scheme, coordination and governance of charitable donations.
9. Experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders, including functional experts, senior stakeholders, technical leads and HR experts.
10. Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing social value policies and frameworks, ideally in the construction, infrastructure, or similar sectors. Familiarity with industry standards, such as the Social Value Act or relevant measurement frameworks, is required.
11. Demonstrated ability to manage data collection processes and protocols, work with external data verification or measurement bodies, and produce regular performance reports.
12. Analytical skills, to evaluate social value data and generate actionable insights.
13. Managing multiple projects with varied timelines and objectives. Ability to chair forums, lead discussions, and coordinate activities across teams to ensure consistency in social value approaches at both the BU and OU levels.
14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in coordinating internal communications around social value initiatives and successes. Ability to present data and insights clearly and concisely to different audiences.
15. Knowledge of social value measurement software (e.g., Thrive or similar).
