Salary: £24,312 pro rata
Location: Melton, Wyke Way
Hours: 37 Hours per week (Full-time)
Contract: Temporary for 6 months from appointment.
As a Catering Assistant, the post holder will be required to ensure food, beverages and the functions services are undertaken to the highest standard, following all food hygiene regulations.
The successful candidate will also be responsible in assisting the Chef Supervisor with the production of food for service and event buffets.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains stock levels, complete weekly stock takes and places orders in accordance with established procedures. Ensures quality and quantity of stock received are checked and signed for.
Ensures the dining areas and servery are prepared for meal service and are opened at the stated times and that all menu items are served correctly and in line with the stated portion size. Operates the till and accepts payment for items, completes daily till checks and undertakes banking procedures ensuring all monies are secured in the safe.
Assists the Chef Supervisor with the preparation of food/meals, ensuring compliance with Food Safety standards and Hygiene Regulations. Ensure re-usable returns re correctly stored and labelled prior to refrigeration.
Responding to customers in a prompt, polite and courteous manner.
Providing a flexible support service to the Catering Unit including working out of normal working hours as requested.
Ensuring food preparation is in accordance with Food Safety Standards.

What the role requires:
Food Hygiene Basic. Knowledge of Health and Safety relating to the Catering Industry.
Previous relevant experience in the catering industry.
Well-developed oral and written skills to deal with people at all levels. Customer Service skills. Good organisational and planning skills.
. Ability to resolve routine and non-routine problems, with the understanding of when to refer matters to a senior officer.
Full driving Licence in order to transport food stuffs and/or equipment around the Force area.
