We are working with a well-established and respected regional law firm based in Richmond, Surrey, known for providing high-quality legal services in a supportive and dynamic work environment. With a strong reputation in the local community, our client offers a range of legal services, specialising in private client work and family law. They are now seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Secretary to support their Family Law department, which handles a variety of matters including divorce, separation, children custody issues, prenuptial agreements, and more.
Role Overview:
As a Legal Secretary in the Family Law department, you will provide essential administrative support to a busy team of family law professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in private client or family law who is looking to further develop their career in a friendly and professional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide secretarial support to family law solicitors, including managing diaries, scheduling meetings, and organising client communications.
2. Assist with the preparation of legal documents, correspondence, and forms relating to divorce, separation, children’s custody, and prenuptial agreements.
3. Audio typing and preparing documents from dictation.
4. Support with the billing process, including time recording and invoicing clients.
5. Maintain accurate and organised client files, ensuring all documents are archived and compliant with internal policies.
6. Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary is essential; experience in private client or family law is highly desirable but not mandatory.
2. Knowledge of family law procedures, particularly divorce, children custody issues, and prenuptial agreements, would be an advantage.
3. Strong dictation and typing skills, with experience using legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
4. Familiarity with billing, compliance, and archiving processes within a law firm.
5. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
