The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to join our Canterbury team as a Civil Department Manager. In this role, you will ultimately be responsible for effectively managing the safety, quality, efficiency and financial success of the Civil Construction Department.
In addition to the above you will:
1. Effectively manage client relationships to ensure continued success
2. Be responsible for preparation of estimates
3. Oversee daily operational activities including resourcing and programming of works
4. Manage financial performance and reporting
5. Ensure business objectives are met for growth and performance
6. Manage the training and development of staff while fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment

To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. Previous proven management experience
2. Extensive knowledge of civil engineering and infrastructure, broadly across concrete pad construction, retaining walls, bridge and culvert works, foundation construction works, timber wharf repairs, and rock revetment works.
3. Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and procedures
4. A focus on safety and compliance
5. The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work
6. Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong focus on people, safety and quality
7. Problem-solving abilities
You will be a supportive and collaborative leader with a passion for developing and growing talent. You will also have strong financial and business acumen.
