An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Water Management team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.
You will be responsible for assisting the team in the design, procurement and implementation of flood protection studies, surface water management plans and projects associated with the Local Flood Risk Management Plan. In addition, the team is responsible for the asset management and maintenance of watercourses, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure across the Council’s area. You will also work closely with other service departments and external organisations, such as Scottish Water and SEPA, ensuring that infrastructure and flood risk is well managed.
With an HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering or equivalent, you will have appropriate legislative, technical knowledge, and experience in a relevant field. You must have demonstrable experience of tendering and procurement of contracts, processing of financial documents and transactions, budget control and have knowledge of health and safety matters.
You will be business and customer focused with the ability to respond to service requests from customers and clients, assist in development and delivering asset management plans, programmes of work, and projects. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a sound understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and initiatives.
With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports.
You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation, who currently operate a hybrid model of home-working and office-based work at locations within North Lanarkshire.
You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire to undertake the duties of this post.
