Job Title: Credit Controller
Reports To: Accounts Manager
Job Purpose:
We are looking for a credit controller to join our accounts team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Account Management
o Assess and establish new customer credit accounts by evaluating creditworthiness.
o Set and review credit limits based on customer payment history and financial status.
o Monitor account balances to ensure credit limits are not exceeded.
2. Invoicing and Payment Tracking
o Generate and send invoices to customers.
o Track customer accounts and maintain detailed records of payments received.
o Identify, investigate, and resolve any discrepancies in accounts.
3. Collections and Debt Recovery
o Proactively contact customers with overdue accounts to arrange prompt payments.
o Develop and implement strategies for dealing with outstanding debt.
o Collaborate with legal and collection agencies when necessary.
4. Reporting and Analysis
o Prepare stop lists and create call lists for outstanding balances.
o Analyse customer credit profiles and payment trends to recommend adjustments to credit limits.
o Identify high-risk accounts and escalate issues to the Accounts Manager.
5. Customer Relations and Dispute Resolution
o Address and resolve any customer queries related to billing and payments.
o Work with sales and customer service teams to resolve account disputes.
o Maintain positive relationships with clients.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience: 2-3 years in credit control, accounts receivable, or a related finance role.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (SAGE) and MS Excel for data management and reporting.
* Soft Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills, working well under high pressure deadlines and scenarios.
* Attention to Detail: High accuracy in handling financial records and documentation.
* Customer Service Orientation: Ability to handle customer issues tactfully and professionally.
Work Environment:
This role is office-based, with working hours of Monday to Friday 08:15 – 16:15.
Compensation and Benefits:
* £13.00 per hour with potential for increase after the probation period.
