As an Electrical Technician, you will provide support in the build, Installation, commissioning and maintenance of bespoke research engineering equipment and associated electrical infrastructure across both the Billingham and Stockton sites.
This role is a Monday-Friday working pattern, however occasional weekends may be required.

Your responsibilities:
1. Carry out electrical installation work to comply with BS7671 and other relevant standards.
2. Support maintenance routines through RCD testing and trip testing to Johnson Matthey procedures and schedules.
3. Assist in the diagnosis and repair of equipment during breakdowns through fault finding.
4. Construct electrical panels for R&D assets to bespoke designs.
5. Installation and testing of lighting and small power circuits to / from distribution boards for both industrial and domestic type installations.
6. Liaise with project / maintenance engineers and team leaders to coordinate planned works.
7. Electrical erection works such as containment, ladder, tray, Unistrut and conduit.
8. Termination of SWA cables.
9. Work following safe systems of works including permit to work and associated risk assessment and method statements.
Requirements for the Role
10. Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship as Engineering Technician or similar (Essential)
11. Experience in the Chemical or Manufacturing Industry with demonstrable job specific skills (Desirable).
12. Knowledge, skills, and attitude to resolve discipline specific problems autonomously, while managing own workload when required.
13. Experience working in a research and development, pilot plant or laboratory scale operating environments which are subject to change (Desirable).
14. Qualified to the current edition of BS7671 (Desirable).
15. Level 3 Inspection and Testing C&G2391 (Desirable).
16. CompEx Ex01-Ex04 maintenance and inspection of electrical apparatus in potentially explosive atmospheres in accordance with BSEN60079 (Desirable).
17. Arc Flash Awareness Training (Desirable).
18. First Aid for Electricians (Desirable).
19. Experience of working under a LOTO system (Desirable).
20. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, such as Excel and Word (Desirable).
21. Experience of working under a management of change (MOC) for process safety (Desirable).
22. Although the above list is desirable Johnson Matthey may provide training to fully meet the requirement of the role.
