Job summary A permanent position has arisen for a band 5 Respiratory Physiologist within a busy Lung Function and Sleep Apnoea Department at University Hospital Llandough. We are a team of 21 staff - including Clinical Scientists, Physiologists and Administrative support, and have 3 Trainee Clinical Scientists on site. We also host a variety of students from Swansea University undertaking in the BSc. Healthcare Science programme. We are a department that thrives on consistency, service improvement led by all members of the team and keen supporters of continuous professional development. Main duties of the job The successful candidate should be qualified to BSc. Healthcare Science (Respiratory Physiology) level (or equivalent). They should able to perform and interpret full lung function tests to a high level, as well as reversibility, 6 minute walk testing, earlobe blood gases and respiratory muscle testing and have knowledge in Sleep Disordered Breathing and Treatment. They will also be issuing, downloading and analysing sleep studies (Overnight Oximetry, Apnealink and Nox), partaking in sleep MDT, trained in Hypertonic Saline and Colomycin trials, CPET assist and partaking in long term CPAP compliance checks. They should be confident at working independently, be able to supervise students and enjoy working within a team. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
