Your new company:
You will be working for a highly respected, North West-based Civil Engineering and highways contractor with over 75 years' experience within the civil space. They specialise in long-term framework contracts with Local Councils and Transport Authorities and have a proven track record of delivering successful high-quality schemes.
Your new role:
They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their highly skilled team, specialising in civils. Your objective is to work within the Commercial Team to efficiently manage the financial control on several different sites, in an efficient manner, ensuring the financial interests of the company are always protected yet maintaining a positive working relationship with all parties.
1. Site measurements and preparations of weekly cost and production reports
2. Undertake cost forecasts
3. Liaise with the site teams to assess and prepare quotations and estimates
4. Management of subcontractors including enquiries, order placement, payment assessments
5. The production of valuations and submission to clients
6. Interpret drawings and instructions and agree estimates with site teams and clients
7. Liaise with subcontractors to agree rates and services
8. Agree final accounts with all parties in a prompt manner
9. Undertake stock control monitoring and provide reports to the Financial Director
10. Liaise with the finance and admin team in the preparation and settlement of accounts
11. Assist the financial director and his team in preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting
What you'll need to succeed:
1. QS degree or equivalent
2. Highways and structures experience
3. Experience with both private and public sector clients on major projects
4. In depth knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
5. Commercial awareness
6. An understanding of construction costs
7. IT skills such as Office, Outlook, and measuring software
